about

I'll never forget hearing my Da, Tim, singing this in Cryan's pub in Carrick-on-Shannon in Co Leitrim, way back in 1998. We were on one of those Shannon cruises and had stopped there for the night. I was only 17 and had been bitten by the ballads bug (as well as the sneaky pints as long as there were no questions from the bar staff regarding age). The rhythm and the craic surrounding my Da's singing of this made it certain that I wouldn't be without music in my life. Thanks Da.
