I'm not great at remembering, or indeed retelling, jokes, but I can remember the words of songs handy enough. Even handier for me, this song has a great punchline. First heard Cathal McConnell singing it on an album he recorded way back, which I found online, on one of those download sites years ago when they were all the rage. He does sings a last verse but I leave that out, letting the punchline stand, and thus becoming the one joke I can comfortably remember.
