about

Myself and my friend Rory had a simultaneous obsession with Irish music and ballad singers. He gave me a lend of an old video recording of some German TV show about the Irish folk scene of the 60s. The last song, as the credits roll, is Sammy's Bar, as sung by Al 'Donnell, who would have inspired me a musically growing up. An absolute gentleman, Al's concerts were like a musical haberdashery, with treasures of songs and information, coupled with literary and historical nuggets along the way. I'll dedicate this one to Al, and to my mate Rory...sorry I lost the video Rory, but I think it's up on Youtube now so happy days!
